Google Play Store on Chrome OSīesides Web and Android Mobile Apps, you can install software from the Chrome Web store. That’s a trade-off you’ll have to consider when thinking about installing Android Apps on your Chromebooks.

So you can download millions of Android-based Apps to your Chromebook which is great at first until you realize that small-size screen Apps designed for 6” smartphones don’t scale well on 11” laptop screens. But they also support Android-based Apps through the Google Play store. Chromebooks shine at supporting web apps already.

And sure there are plenty of web apps we use today such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Gmail, Calendar, etc. The Chrome browser is at the center of Chrome OS. The basis of any computing platform today with any ambitions of having mass adoption is App support.

Some apps, however, still work offline such as Google Docs, Sheets. In Uganda where I live, this can be a challenge and anyone deciding on buying a Chromebook has to seriously evaluate the internet capabilities of their home/school/work setting. So, today’s computing devices not only can’t work well without the internet, they’re expected to work with the internet. The global pandemic has even further exacerbated that fact - from online learning to remote working to binging shows on Netflix. Most services and work we do today can barely be done offline.

Chromebooks are now more powerful and extend the computing experience beyond the browser as we shall later see.Ĭhromebooks are still heavily reliant on the internet just like most devices today. And indeed that observation has been true until very recently. When Chromebooks first launched a decade ago in 2011, it’s fair to say that they were just glorified Chrome browsers on metal. In fact, the official Chrome OS logo is the same as that of the Chrome browser. At the center of the Chrome OS is as you would have guessed - the Google Chrome browser. Honestly the only reason i'm giving this a positive review is because I like the developer of this game and I want to boost the game a bit, but I also cant lie and say the game is anywhere near perfect.Chromebooks are a fairly new breed of laptops that run on Chrome OS, a heavily tweaked Linux-based operating system. if there was something to make later parts of the game available to jump to once you completed a certain milestone I would enjoy the game much more. it takes about 4 to 5 minutes to get to the new stuff depending how far you are in the game and there isn't really anything to subvert that slog through the first bit of the game. That leads me to my biggest gripe with the game it's fun when you get close to your PB and beyond but that's about it. the enemies are easy to understand and have their function within the ranks and are all fun to fight, until you fight the same layout for the 500th time. movement is nice but is so simple that it feels lacking once you start to get in the thick of it. it has a nice flow and is stupid simple to understand, it's either shotgun, rapid shot, or homing daggers. I will first start this off by saying the game play in itself is fun. I don't dislike the game but I can't say I would recommend this game to many people as it's for a very tiny demographic of skill based shooter players. This is one of those games where I wish there was a mid option.
